Privacy policy
Last updated 27 August 2026
The short version. The app collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. It has no account, no analytics and no advertising. This website collects nothing either, apart from what you type into the contact form and what any web server unavoidably logs.
Who is responsible
This app and website are operated by EVdiag. For any question about this policy, or to ask what data is held about you, write to support@evdiag.net and we will answer.
The app
What it collects
Nothing. Clutch Wear has no user account, no analytics, no advertising identifier and no crash reporting. It makes no network request of its own — on Android the internet permission is not even declared, so the app cannot contact a server even if it wanted to.
The camera
The app asks for camera permission for one purpose: to photograph a vehicle's VIN plate so the number can be read into the form. The image is processed on the device by Google ML Kit, which works entirely offline. The photo is not saved by the app and is never uploaded. Permission is only requested at the moment you tap Scan, and the app works normally without it.
What is stored on your device
Reports you print are saved on the phone so you can find them again. Each saved job holds the vehicle model, the tester readings, the calculated wear, the number plate, the VIN, the technician name, the workshop name, the mileage and any note you typed. The app also remembers your workshop name, any wear limits you changed and the tester notes you wrote in the guide.
All of it stays on the device. Deleting a job in the app removes it. Uninstalling the app removes everything. You can export a backup file from the Guide screen — where that file goes afterwards is your responsibility.
What is shared
Nothing is shared by the app. The report it produces contains the vehicle and job details you entered; where you send that report — printing it, emailing it, handing it to a customer — is your decision and your responsibility under whatever data protection rules apply to your business.
If you are a workshop using this app
A number plate, a VIN and a technician's name are personal data in many jurisdictions, including under the UK and EU GDPR. Because the app stores them only on your device and we never receive them, you are the data controller for that information, not us. Handle it as you would any other customer record.
This website
Contact form
If you send a message, we receive the name, email address and message you type, plus the category you choose. It is delivered to our support inbox by Resend, an email delivery service acting as our processor. We use it to answer you and keep it no longer than needed for that — normally under 24 months. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like every web server, Cloudflare records requests, which includes IP addresses, for security and abuse prevention. We do not use those logs for analytics or profiling and cannot connect them to a person. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
If spam protection is enabled on the contact form, Cloudflare Turnstile runs to check the submission is not automated. It is designed to work without tracking or cookies.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Nothing follows you between visits. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers; if you would rather it did not, a browser extension or content blocker will stop it without breaking the site.
Your rights
Where GDPR or similar law applies, you can ask for a copy of any personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to our processing it. In practice the only data we ever hold is a contact-form message. Write to support@evdiag.net and we will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
App stores
Installing from Google Play or the App Store means Google or Apple processes that download under their own privacy policies. We receive only anonymous aggregate figures from their consoles — install counts and crash rates — never anything identifying you.
Children
Clutch Wear is a professional workshop tool. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
